New Gallery Images

Good news everyone! This post has nothing to do with Futurama.

I’ve added some new illustrations I’ve uncovered from the past couple of years, namely a few Ratboy images, but a couple of others sneaked in as well. In fact, an image I drew of a previous job is lying in there now.

I also added some new fanart as well. It’s unsurprisingly Daisy and Mario Kart images. Mostly. That’s not all though.

A Treasure Trove Of Old Goodies

Everybody likes pictures.

Sorry for the lack of update lately, I’ve been rather sick lately with severe chest congestion. While this is certainly no cry for pity, it is the sort of sickness that saps your energy just enough to not really want to do much, and destroys your ability to breathe enough to prevent any work being done on recording something like a podcast you really want to get started already. Maybe I should just turn this into a food blog about cough drops and various soups, or something. (I won’t be doing that.)

So I spent the better part of today going through the majority of art I have that’s somehow survived the years, moves across the country, fits of emotional disturbance, etc. And I’ve found a lot of interesting things — ideas I should have done years ago, amazing illustrations that deserve attention or new life, projects that were started, conceptualized, or just never saw the light of day, and some general ass hattery that was simply fun to revisit. I’ll be posting things around the place (Instagram, Facebook, and probably some other stuff) and reworking these old ideas into their own thing or an existing platform I’m working on or planning to shortly. Also, apparently over the past 20 years, the one thing I’ve drawn more than anything is cartoon bees. I don’t have any explanation on what that’s about.

It’s actually kind of cool, in a way, to revisit all this. While I’m not one to spend time revisiting old memories– that’s kind of stupid –I am glad to have a wealth of ideas to draw off of again, and a framework to institute new things building off those ideas. It’s a great foundation to a creative process, for now, at least.

Moxie’s Sprite

I’ve been working lately on Moxie’s Sprites, because, why not?

I thought I would take a moment to get back on the Meridian Knights bandwagon today, and due to some writer’s block I started spriting characters. Moxie was the natural character to start with. I didn’t add this to a gallery because it’s the only one I’ve posted. Maybe when I have more. I produced quite a few sprites today, but won’t share much until I can fully animate the sprite in some sort of gif, or gif-like format. So whenever I get that done.

Moxie – Character Design

I finally finished the “final” character design for Moxie. I tried to find a better balance between traditional cartoon and anime (as in, adding a lot of more traditional cartoon parts), and while part of me still feels there’s too much anime in this, I’m pleased with it and how it turned out. There’s a good deal of personality (I tried for a kind and naive face, ideally I found that) and I worked in as much as I could to compliment how I’ve fleshed out her story (which I’m not sharing so nuts to you right now on that.) I also added a lot of details, such as the patches, and turned the cape into a hood. Now I just need to think of a name for the game!
